New Delhi: Namami Gange Mission is making significant progress in maintaining the purity and uninterrupted flow of river Ganga. In the first quarter of this year, four major projects in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have been successfully completed and are now operational. These projects are proving to be a milestone for Namami Gange Mission. This can reduce pollution in important areas along the Ganga and Ramganga rivers.
Projects completed two-three months ahead of schedule
Executive Engineer (Rural) of UP Jal Nigam, Kumkum Gangwar said that all the projects have been completed two-three months before the time. Three projects approved at a cost of Rs 553.21 crore in Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Bareilly of Uttar Pradesh have started.
Construction of sewage treatment plant
Under the project, a sewage treatment plant (STP) has been constructed. Due to this, the polluted water of the municipal corporation which was earlier released into the Ganga, is now treated here. While this is making the Ganga clean, it has also created employment opportunities for the local residents.
Benefit from new STP
The new STPs have greatly benefited local communities by improving water quality and reducing pollution. Improved ghats and cleaner rivers have attracted more tourists and pilgrims, boosting the local economy. Also, the sanctioned project of Rs 523 crore in Munger, Bihar has been completed ahead of schedule. This is helping in cleaning the Ganga. The ongoing efforts of Namami Gange Mission aim to revive and protect the Ganga River while ensuring a clean and safe environment.
