New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has issued a forecast for the weather today. The IMD has predicted heavy rains for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, coastal Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka and south interior Karnataka on Sunday. The water level of Ganga, Son and its tributary rivers in Bihar continues to fluctuate.
The weather department has predicted light to moderate rain in many states including Delhi, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. About 15 meters of the Kedarnath walking path collapsed due to a landslide near Jangalchatti on Friday night.
Ganga river flowing above danger mark
On Saturday, an increase in water level was recorded in Bhagalpur, Munger, Lakhisarai and Begusarai. Flood water has spread in many new areas of these districts. One to one and a half feet of water is flowing on Munger-Bhagalpur NH-80. According to the Central Water Commission, the water level has increased by 15 cm in 24 hours.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited the flood affected areas of Patna and Vaishali districts. He visited the relief camp and met the flood victims. He directed the officials to provide all kinds of facilities to the flood victims.
A total of five people died in different areas due to drowning in the floods. The administration has closed 151 schools in the district till September 25. In Munger, the Ganga is flowing 57 cm above the danger mark. The water of the Ganga has spread in more than half a dozen areas of the city.
17 panchayats of Lakhisarai district are affected by floods. Flood water is spreading rapidly in Begusarai. Ganga, Kosi, Kari Kosi, Barandi rivers are flowing above the danger mark in Katihar. 19 panchayats are affected by floods in Samastipur district.
Delhi's weather will be pleasant
According to the weather department, the sky will remain partly cloudy for three days including Sunday. There is no chance of rain during this period. The maximum temperature on Sunday may be 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may be 25 degrees Celsius. Very light rain is expected between Wednesday and Friday next week. Then the temperature may drop by two to three degrees Celsius.
Kedarnath footpath damaged near Jangalchatti
About 15 meters of the Kedarnath walking path collapsed due to a landslide near Jangalchatti on Friday night. Due to this, movement to the Dham was completely halted on Saturday. More than 5,000 pilgrims returning from the Dham after darshan were safely transported to Gaurikund via an alternative route.
These pilgrims who went for darshan on Friday were staying at various stops on the footpath including Kedarnath Dham. No pilgrim was allowed to go to Kedarnath from Gaurikund and Sonprayag. More than 3,000 pilgrims waited for the footpath to open throughout the day at Sonprayag.
A large part of many districts of Bengal is still submerged
Despite the water level receding in the flood-affected areas of Bengal, a large part of many districts of the state is still submerged in water. The situation remains worrisome in various areas of Howrah, Hooghly and West Medinipur districts. Many villages are still submerged in water up to waist or knees. The local administration is using boats to provide relief to the flood victims. The sick are being taken to the hospital by boats. At present, more than 10,000 people have taken shelter in about 500 relief camps.
