Bengaluru: In Bengaluru's Sheshadripuram, a man threatened to commit suicide and staged a drama for hours after which the police had to intervene. The man was threatening to commit suicide as he was fed up with his wife's bad behaviour. A resident of Devanahalli named Manju wanted to commit suicide by climbing on the roof of a four-storey building under construction in Sheshadripuram as he was fed up with his wife and family.

The drama ended after the police cleared Manju, a resident of Devanahalli, of jumping to commit suicide. Her relatives told the police that her family was into farming while Manju made a living by doing odd jobs. She was seen sitting on the edge of the roof of an under-construction building behind Sheshadripuram College at 7.30 am.

A man was found sitting in a dangerous position on the roof of a building

"The dangerous position in which he was sitting caught people's attention. In response to their questions, he said that he was about to commit suicide. Soon the police control room received a message and we all rushed to the spot," a senior police officer said.

Manju said he was upset with his wife and other family members due to personal reasons. Police said he was earlier admitted to a rehabilitation centre for alcohol addiction.

Why was I admitted to rehab?

Manju told the police that my wife ill-treats me, my parents and other family members also ill-treat me. Why was I admitted to the rehabilitation centre? The police should take action against all those who admitted me there.

Police gave assurance to the angry person

Police and passersby tried to stop him from jumping, but the man kept shouting. Soon fire and emergency service vehicles reached the spot. After that the police explained a lot to the man and told him, 'We will make sure that you will not come back to the rehabilitation center. We will talk to your parents and others. Also, we will warn your wife to treat you with utmost respect. But to do all this, first you have to come down with us.
