Maa Chamunda Incarnation Story (Maa Chamunda Story)

Each day of Sharadiya Navratri is special. On this auspicious occasion, Goddess Durga and her nine forms are worshipped with devotion. It is stated in the Sanatan scriptures that Goddess Durga assumed the form of Chamunda to destroy the demons Chanda and Munda.

For a long time, the terror of the demons Shumbh and Nishumbh had spread across all three worlds. The atrocities of Shumbh and Nishumbh caused chaos in all three worlds. To establish their dominance over heaven, Shumbh and Nishumbh attacked Devaloka. The gods of heaven could not stand before the power of Shumbh and Nishumbh. At that time, Shumbh and Nishumbh ousted Indra and established their dominance over Devaloka. At that time, all the gods went to Brahma and Vishnu and narrated their experiences to them.

Lord Vishnu then advised the gods to seek help from Goddess Jagadamba. All the gods sought refuge in Goddess Jagadamba and began worshipping her. Pleased with the ardent devotion of the gods, Goddess Kaushiki appeared. This information reached the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha. Shumbha and Nishumbha then sent their messengers, Chanda and Mund, to fight Goddess Kaushiki.

Chanda and Mund were very proud of their power. The demons challenged Goddess Kaushiki to battle. However, Goddess Kaushiki did not respond. At that time, Chanda and Mund used force. Then, due to Goddess Kaushiki's anger, Goddess Chamunda incarnated. Goddess Chamunda instantly killed Chanda and Mund. Goddess Chamunda killed Chanda and Mund during the Sandhi period. For this reason, Goddess Chamunda is worshipped on the day of Sandhi Puja.
