News Topical, Digital Desk : The second day of the five-day Diwali festival is celebrated as Narak Chaturdashi, also known as 'Chhoti Diwali' or 'Roop Chaudas'. This festival falls on the Chaturdashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Kartik. It is said that Lord Krishna killed Narakasura on this day. It is believed that certain measures taken on this day not only free a person from the fear of going to hell, but also remove all kinds of suffering from the home.
According to the Hindu calendar, Narak Chaturdashi (Narak Chaturdashi 2025) will be celebrated on October 20 this year, so let us know the remedies related to this day.
Narak Chaturdashi 2025 Night Remedies
- Lamp - Take a four-sided earthen lamp. Fill it with mustard oil and place four wicks facing four different directions.
- Right time – This lamp is lit in the evening or at night, when all the members of the house are preparing to sleep after having dinner.
- Place the lamp outside the house , near the main entrance, facing south. The south direction is considered the home of Yamaraj.
- Mantra - While lighting the lamp, fold your hands and read this mantra - "Mrityuna Paashdandabhyan Kalen Cha Maya Saha Ya Trayodashyan Deepdanat Suryajah Priyatamithi."
- Do this: This "Yama Deepak" is lit by the eldest member of the household. Once the lamp is placed, one should not look back at it, and members inside the house should not come out to look at it.

Worship of Lord Hanuman
On the night of Narak Chaturdashi, light a mustard oil lamp in front of Lord Hanuman. Then, chant the mantra "Om Hram Hanumate Rudraatmakaya Hram Phat" at least 11 times. This ritual helps relieve debt and bring positive energy into your life.
Light 14 lamps
It is believed that lighting lamps in 14 different places on the night of Narak Chaturdashi is auspicious. In addition to the Yama lamp, you can light lamps in the temple, kitchen, drinking water place, near the Tulsi plant, the main entrance, the terrace, and the bathroom.
