News Topical, Digital Desk : A shameful incident has emerged from Sheopur district. In the government primary school in Hullpur village, Vijaypur block, children were served mid-day meals on pieces of paper instead of plates. The school in-charge has been suspended and action has been initiated against those responsible.
The incident reportedly occurred last Tuesday (November 4th). According to reports, a self-help group was serving mid-day meals to children at the government primary school in Hullapur. However, the children were not provided with plates to eat from. Instead, they were served food on pieces of paper. The children were seen sitting on the floor and eating from the paper.
District Education Officer M.L. Garg took immediate action and suspended Bhogiram Dhakad, the in-charge of Hullpur School. Show-cause notices were issued to the BRCC and the public teacher. Furthermore, the contract of the self-help group through which the mid-day meal was being prepared and served was also immediately terminated.
Strict administration on negligence
Officials have stated that this matter is extremely serious. Serving food to children in this manner not only violates regulations but also demonstrates the height of insensitivity. The administration has launched an investigation and strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
District Education Officer M.L. Garg said, "This is an incident that shames humanity. An investigation team has been formed. Based on the preliminary report, the school in-charge has been suspended and the group has been expelled."
The Mid-Day Meal Scheme is implemented to provide nutritious food to children and increase school attendance. However, incidents like this raise questions about the scheme's credibility. Serving meals on paper clearly shows that both the school and the community have not fulfilled their responsibilities properly.
The villagers say that the government is running a scheme to ensure that their children do not go to school hungry. But when they see such conditions, it is very sad.
The administration has intensified the investigation into the matter. The investigation is also looking into whether the school had plates, and if so, why they were not used. Further action will be taken after the report is received.
