Mokshada Ekadashi Vrat Katha
According to the legend, a king named Vaikhanas (Mokshada Ekadashi ki Katha) ruled in a kingdom called Champaknagar. Brahmins who knew all four Vedas lived in this kingdom. Once the king had a bad dream. He saw that his ancestors were in hell. Seeing this dream, the king became very sad. The king told the Brahmins about this dream. The king told the Brahmins that in the dream, the ancestors were pleading to be released from hell. The king said that seeing this dream, I am feeling very sad. Ever since I saw this dream, I am very restless.
The king told the dream to the sage (Mokshada Ekadashi story)
He asked, "What should I do in such a situation?" The Brahmins told him that the ashram of Parvat Rishi was nearby. He knew the future and the present. The sage would surely solve your problem. Obeying the Brahmins' orders, the king went to the sage's ashram. He told the sage about his dream.
The sage gave this advice to the king
The king said, "My ancestors are suffering in hell. I feel helpless in this situation. How can I get them out of hell?" The sage advised the king to observe the Ekadashi fast on the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of Margashirsha month. He said that observing this fast would free the ancestors from hell. The king then observed the Mokshada Ekadashi fast as per the prescribed rituals. Due to the effect of this fast, the king's ancestors were freed from their evil deeds.
