News Topical, Digital Desk : The Maharashtra Assembly witnessed a heated debate on Wednesday (December 10) over the " My Ladki Behen " scheme. The state government clarified that the e- KYC process for beneficiaries of the scheme is ongoing across the state and that funds are being recovered from those who have misused the benefits.

The Maharashtra government also stated that no corruption had occurred in this entire matter. Accusing the opposition, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the opposition parties were merely trying to defame the scheme. He assured that the " Majhi Ladki Behin " scheme would not be discontinued and that the government would fulfill all its promises on time. Opposition members boycotted the House in protest of his response.

Minister AditiTatkareanswered the opposition's questions

MLA Sunil Prabhu presented a relevant information on this topic . Based on this information, Jayant Patil, Bhaskar Jadhav , and Nana Patole asked several supplementary questions. Responding, Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare stated that the total number of applications received under the scheme includes approximately 24.3 million potential beneficiaries. Of these, 2.6 million applications have been fully vetted, while detailed investigations are ongoing for approximately 400,000 cases.

8000 government employees took advantage

Aditi Tatkare further stated that approximately 8,000 government employees had also taken advantage of the scheme, and recovery of irregularly received funds from them has begun, and the process is expected to be completed within the next two months. She also stated that e- KYC work is progressing rapidly across the state , with the deadline set for December 31st.

The opposition raised questions on the functioning of the government

Meanwhile, the opposition alleged that the government was not clarifying when the increased financial benefits under the scheme would be disbursed and whether action would be taken against bogus beneficiaries and the relevant officials. Citing a lack of satisfactory answers from the government, opposition members walked out of the House and questioned the government's functioning.
