News Topical, Digital Desk : In Jagraon, Ludhiana, Punjab, a young man, upset over not receiving his commission on a land deal, hanged himself at his home. His family immediately rushed him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The deceased was identified as Balwinder Singh alias Gaggi. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it to a government hospital for a post-mortem.

Police recorded the statement of the deceased's mother, Karamjit Kaur. Based on this, a case has been registered at the Sidhwan Bet police station against the accused father-son duo, Sukhjinder Singh Chauhan and Gursimrat Singh Chauhan (residents of Gahaur Dakha village).

Daljit Singh, in-charge of the Bhudari outpost, said that according to the complainant, Karamjit Kaur, her son, Balwinder Singh, arranged a land deal for Sukhjinder Singh Chauhan in Chuharchak village, Moga. The deal was finalized at ₹80 lakh per acre. The buyer transferred ₹20 lakh through RTGS and ₹92 lakh in cash to the accused's account.

30 lakh commission was to be paid

The complaint states that Balwinder Singh was entitled to a commission of approximately ₹3 million on this transaction. However, the accused consistently refused to pay the commission and register the property. The family alleges that they later learned that the accused had sold the same land to another party for ₹13.1 million and taken the money.

The accused went back on his promise

When Balwinder Singh demanded his commission, the accused father and son entered into a written agreement. They provided photocopies of two checks totaling ₹15 lakh, while keeping the originals. The agreement also stated that the commission would be increased from ₹30 lakh to a total of ₹40 lakh on the day of the registration, but the accused later reneged on this promise.

Mother Karamjit Kaur said that her son was suffering from mental stress due to the accused father-son duo's constant procrastination and deception. Before dying, he had promised to appear before higher authorities and have action taken. However, distraught, he went to his garage and hanged himself with a rope tied to an iron girder. Police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
