News Topical, Digital Desk : The world's nuclear scientists have raised the Doomsday Clock to its most dangerous level yet. It is now just 85 seconds away from midnight, a sign of imminent global destruction.

The 'Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists' organization said that the aggressive attitude of nuclear-powered countries like America, Russia and China, weakening of nuclear arms control agreements, wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, threats of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and climate change are the main reasons for this decision.

The organization said that the use of AI in military systems without control is increasing the risks. AI could also be misused to create biological weapons and spread misinformation.

At the same time, the problems associated with climate change are becoming increasingly serious. Alexandra Bell, president of the organization, said this situation reflects a failure of leadership worldwide. She warned that growing nationalism and the politics of power are leading humanity toward an even greater crisis.

What is the Doomsday Clock, why is it a warning to the world?

The Doomsday Clock is not a real clock, but a symbol. It was created to symbolize how close humanity is to bringing an end to the world by its own hands. In it, midnight signifies global catastrophe, such as nuclear war or a disaster from which human civilization cannot survive.

The clock was established in 1947 by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, an organization founded by Albert Einstein and J. Robert Oppenheimer. The Doomsday Clock is set annually by a team of scientists and security experts.

They monitor global conditions. If the situation worsens, the clock is moved closer to midnight. If the world moves in a safer direction, the clock can also be set back. For example, at one point during the Cold War, the clock was moved 17 minutes ahead, which was considered the safest period.
