Javed Akhtar may not have received a National Award for Best Screenwriter, but he has won five National Awards as a lyricist. He has written many chartbuster songs that have become evergreen. He even wrote one song in just five minutes. Farah Khan shared an anecdote about it.

In fact, Javed Akhtar wrote the lyrics for all the songs in Farah Khan's film Om Shanti Om. He procrastinated a bit, but he wrote one song in five minutes: "Dard-E-Disco." It remains a favorite and has 143 million views on YouTube.

Farah also said that the song "Satrangi Re" from the film "Dil Se" was written by Gulzar Sahab and that she contacted Javed ji to learn the lyrics. It's worth noting that Om Shanti Om was directed and choreographed by Farah Khan. The film starred Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
