News Topical, Digital Desk : A car fell into a ditch late night on Saturday (August 2) near Kainta Mor on Kathua-Basohli road in Jammu and Kashmir . Two people died in this accident, while three others were seriously injured. All the injured are being treated at GMC Kathua .

According to the information received, the accident happened at around 12:40 pm. Members of Neelkanth Seva Samiti, Ferozepur (Punjab) were travelling in a car (number PB10K B5888) to attend the langar seva organised at Chandrakot for the Amarnath Yatra. They mistakenly turned towards Basantpur from Lakhanpur National Highway , where their car went out of control and fell into a deep ditch.

 

All the injured were evacuated

As soon as the information about the accident was received, the team of Lakhanpur Police Station and Basantpur Police Outpost reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. After hours of effort, all the injured were taken out. Doctors declared two of them dead, while three other injured are being treated at GMC Hospital in Kathua .

Appropriate action is being taken in the matter

Lakhanpur police has started investigating the cause of the accident and appropriate action is being taken in the case. Dr Poonam Sharma, Medical Casualty Officer, said that two people have died. They were identified as Mohinder Paul and Pawan Madhan . And the treatment of three people, who are residents of Ferozepur , is going on in GMC Kathua .

Earlier on Saturday , a bus had a narrow escape in Rajouri district. There were 40 passengers in the bus. The bus slipped off the road and stopped a few inches before the cliff. This bus was going from Muglan area. The driver had lost control. The bus stopped near a 300 feet deep gorge, thus averting a major accident.
