News Topical, Digital Desk : There was a lot of commotion in the delivery ward of Munger Sadar Hospital on Wednesday (30 July, 2025) late evening. The matter was about the exchange of newborns. After the birth of two children, Mamta's negligence caused a huge uproar in the hospital.
What is the matter?
Kavita, 28-year-old wife of Ganesh Prasad, resident of Ramchandrapur village of Jamalpur police station area and Ankita Singh, 26-year-old wife of Gautam Kumar Singh, resident of Milki Uttar Tola of Haveli Kharagpur block, reached Sadar Hospital for delivery. Doctors operated on both the women. One gave birth to a boy and the other to a girl.
Mamta Sumitra, who works in the delivery ward, gave Kavita's newborn son to Ankita Singh's mother-in-law Shanti Devi, thinking that she was Kavita's relative. She said that you have a grandson. After this Mamta took the newborn child inside to the doctor. After a while Mamta came and told Ankita Singh's mother-in-law that your daughter-in-law has given birth to a girl, not a boy. On hearing Mamta's words, Ankita Singh's family started creating a ruckus. Accusing the delivery centre of replacing the baby, they refused to take the newborn girl.
'I have given birth to a son… we will take the son only'
On the other hand, Kavita's family also refused to accept the newborn baby girl. They said that since Kavita has given birth to a son, they will accept the son only. When there was a ruckus, Sadar Hospital doctor BN Singh and other staff reached the delivery ward. Both the families were explained but these people were not ready to listen.
Ankita Singh's mother-in-law Shanti Devi said that Mamta gave the child to her and said that you have got a grandson. In the joy of the grandson, she also gave Mamta 700 rupees. After this Mamta took the child inside on the pretext of showing him to the doctor and after a while came back and said that it is a girl and not a boy. On the other hand, Kavita Kumari told that she has given birth to a son.
Doctor BN Singh of Sadar Hospital said that the time of birth of both the children has been recorded. Kavita Kumari has given birth to a son and Ankita Singh has given birth to a daughter. Mamta did not identify the relatives and gave the child to other relatives, due to which there has been a ruckus. He said that if the relatives do not take their children, then an order for DNA test will be taken from the court.
