News Topical, Digital Desk : A case of fraud of Rs 4.32 crore has come to light in which a retired medical officer was digitally arrested for a month. The conman gang called the victim posing as TRAI (Telephone Regulatory Authority ) officers and threatened him of being involved in a Rs 538 crore money laundering case in Mumbai . Later, police posed as Supreme Court judges, and the extortion continued for a month. The state cyber cell has arrested three accused in the case. According to Superintendent of Police (Cyber) Savyasachi Saraf, the 65-year-old victim, originally from Gwalior, lives in Indore with his wife. His sons live abroad. On September 21st, a fraudster called him posing as a TRAI officer and threatened to use his two mobile numbers in the scam. The fraudster duly disclosed their mobile and Aadhar card numbers and also said that their bank accounts were also used in the embezzlement of Rs 538 crore by Jet Airways owner Naresh Goyal, and in return, he received a commission of crores of rupees.

The accused carried out digital arrests in the name of arrest, jail, and investigation, and interrogated them via video call . They also obtained information about their bank accounts, fixed deposits, shares, mutual funds, jewelry, and plots, houses, and flats.

Interrogation continued by creating a fake courtroom

The fraudsters set up a fake courtroom and conducted the interrogation. Fake ED and police officers were also present during the interrogation. A fake case was staged against them. They were instructed to appear and made to speak to a fake judge. Negotiations between the fraudster and the victim continued for about a month . Under the guise of verifying movable and immovable property, the fraudster deposited ₹43.2 million into accounts in Gujarat, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana. On Thursday, police arrested three cyber fraudsters in connection with the case.
