News Topical, Digital Desk : A shocking incident has come to light in Singapore. Indian citizen Akash Tiwari has been accused of molesting and harassing a female flight attendant on a Singapore Airlines flight. The incident occurred on February 9th as the plane was preparing to land.
According to the police, Akash Tiwari is accused of criminal force and outraging the modesty of a woman. He touched a female attendant near his private parts while she was performing her duties near his seat.
What is the whole matter?
The woman immediately asked him to stop and went into the galley to prepare for landing. But Akash Tiwari followed her. He reached the galley, where he pushed her into a corner and continued to harass her. This left her extremely frightened and stressed.
The woman screamed loudly and ran away. But Akash Tiwari followed her again, even into the aisle. Finally, after the woman reported the incident to her supervisor, he returned to his seat.
The arrested accused
According to the police report, Akash Tiwari is also accused of threatening behavior. He did this to intimidate and harass the woman. The incident was reported to the police the same day.
Officers from the Airport Police Division began investigating and arrested Akash Tiwari as soon as the plane arrived at Changi Airport. A court gag order has been issued to protect the woman's identity.
What happened in the court?
Akash Tiwari was formally charged in court on Tuesday. When questioned, he pleaded not guilty and declared himself innocent. The next hearing is now awaited.
Those found guilty of molestation are punishable with up to three years in prison, a fine, caning, or both. Threatening behaviour and causing distress are punishable with up to six months in prison, a fine of up to S$5,000 (about US$3,900), or both.
