News Topical, Digital Desk : In the midst of the tariff war, the US has made a big accusation against India. Stephen Miller, a top aide to President Donald Trump, said on Sunday that by buying oil from Moscow, India is effectively financially helping Russia in its war against Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that the US is constantly increasing pressure on India to stop buying oil from Russia. Stephen Miller, Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House and one of Trump's most influential aides, said, “He (Trump) has said very clearly that it is not acceptable for India to financially support this war by buying oil from Russia.”

America criticized India

Miller's criticism is one of the harshest criticisms ever made by the Trump administration about one of America's key partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Miller said on 'Fox News', "People will be surprised to know that India is basically with China in terms of buying Russian oil. This is a surprising fact."

India will continue to buy oil from Russia

Miller also mentioned President Trump's relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described it as excellent. The Indian Embassy in Washington did not immediately comment on Miller's statement. However, Indian government sources said on Saturday that despite American threats, New Delhi will continue to buy oil from Moscow.

It is worth noting that the US has imposed a 25 percent tariff on Indian products as a result of the purchase of military equipment and energy products from Russia. Trump has also threatened that if Moscow does not make a major peace deal with Ukraine, he will impose a 100 percent tariff on US imports from countries buying Russian oil.
