News Topical, Digital Desk : A shocking incident has come to light from the District Women's Hospital in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh. While government claims of free delivery and treatment exist only on paper, the reality is shameful for even civilized society. Patients and attendants are openly extorted through intimidation. The Chief Medical Officer's inspection confirmed this. Instructions have been given for action and investigation based on this revelation.
Illegal recovery was being done by scaring patients
At the District Women's Hospital, pregnant women are threatened with a Caesarean section before delivery and are threatened with referral. Staff then demand money from them, and after receiving the money, the patient is eventually given a normal delivery.
Upon receiving these complaints, CMS Dr. R.K. Chauriha was shocked to learn the truth. He personally inspected the labor room and wards. During his inspection, he spoke with the admitted patients and their families, revealing several shocking facts.
What did the hospitalized patient say?
Sangeeta, wife of Dhirendra, a resident of Baura Satari village, admitted to the ward, said the staff took 2,000 rupees from her. Khushboo, wife of Mallan, resident of Kurora Dang, said she was given 1,500 rupees, Savitri, wife of Ram Bharose, resident of Supa, said she was given 3,000 rupees, and Archana, wife of Chunnu, resident of Kabrai, said she was given 3,000 rupees.
In total, half a dozen pregnant women openly accused the labor room staff of illegal extortion. Family members reported that the labor room staff initially frightened patients, sometimes claiming the baby was in breech position, sometimes claiming the mother's blood was low, or that a normal delivery would be impossible. But as soon as money was paid, the same difficult delivery suddenly became normal.
Admitted to distributing money during interrogation
When the Chief Medical Officer (CMS) questioned the staff on the spot, they admitted to sharing the money among themselves. Dr. R.K. Chauriha has reported the matter to the District Magistrate, CMO, and Additional Superintendent of Police, promising appropriate action. He admitted that the staff were exploiting poor patients, but how is it possible that this corruption could have gone on right next to his cabin on the hospital premises without him noticing?
At present, after the disclosure of the case, the process of investigation and action has been started, but the question still remains that when the God of the health system himself becomes a symbol of fear and greed, then who will treat the poor.
