Haridwar blind murder case solved after 11 months, home guard took his own life due to love affair:

News Topical, Digital Desk : Nearly 11 months after the sensational murder of a lab employee in the village of Garhmirpur, in the Ranipur police station area of Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on January 18, 2025, the police have arrested the accused, Home Guard Abhimanyu, who has confessed to shooting and killing the young man due to a love affair.

Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Singh Dobal, speaking at a press conference held at the Ranipur police station on Tuesday (December 23), revealed the case. The body of 21-year-old Wasim, who worked at a pathology lab in Bahadarabad, was found lying on the roadside on January 18. Initial investigations determined the case to be a road accident, but the family became suspicious when they discovered suspicious marks on the waist while bathing the body before burial.

A post-mortem examination was conducted, which confirmed the cause of death as a result of a gunshot wound. A murder case was registered and an investigation was initiated. Police attempted to connect the dots, but with no success. This case had become a challenging one for the police, yet the team persisted and finally tracked down the killer.

The murder was caused by harassing a woman

The SSP said that after a prolonged period of no leads, the case was handed over to a special team led by the City Superintendent of Police (SP). After re-examining old evidence and questioning suspects, police detained Abhimanyu on Monday. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was in a love affair with a female home guard and was upset with Wasim for harassing her. Driven by this grudge, he plotted the murder and shot Wasim with a pistol on January 18th while he was returning from the lab.

Female Home Guard did not get the role

The police have recovered the pistol used in the murder from the accused. The investigation has also revealed that the female home guard had no role in the incident. The police are now presenting the accused in court and are pursuing further legal proceedings.
