News Topical, Digital Desk : Gujarat News: While the world of crime is full of scandals, a vehicle theft has come to light in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and the reason behind it has shocked even the police. The city's Zone 1 LCB squad has arrested a notorious criminal who resorted to theft not for money but to avenge his wife's infidelity.
This man, Hitesh Jain, who lives in the Shahibaug area, has confessed to stealing not just one or two, but more than 150 Activas. His specialty was that instead of selling the stolen vehicles, he would drive them around until the petrol ran out, then abandon them in a deserted area and flee.
Infidelity and deception revealed
The details revealed during the police investigation read like a movie story. The accused, Hitesh Jain, is a resident of Kiran Apartments, Shahibaug, and has studied up to the 10th grade. He had previously had a love marriage and lovingly gifted his wife an Activa. However, his wife used the same Activa to visit her boyfriend. When Hitesh learned of her infidelity and deception, he was deeply shocked.
Hitesh's wife eloped with another man, taking his Activa, and this sparked a hatred and a desire for revenge against the Activa. This trauma led him to become a "crazy" vehicle thief, stealing Activas from across the city.
He targeted vehicles parked outside temples.
This cunning thief's modus operandi was quite unique. He specifically targeted vehicles parked outside Jain temples and shrines. After conducting a brief reconnaissance, he would break the lock with a master key or a shock and start the vehicle by directly earthing it. He would then take his Activa for a drive around the city. When the fuel tank ran out, he would abandon the vehicle and steal a new one. Under the guidance of Zone 1 DCP Harshad Patel, the LCB team, acting on a tip-off from an informant, apprehended him.
Currently, police have seized a total of five stolen Activas from the accused, valued at approximately ₹85,000. According to police records, 71 cases have been registered against this man at various police stations. His arrest has solved five unsolved crimes, including those in Anandnagar, Satellite, Chandkheda, and Nadiad Town. Police have obtained the accused's remand and are searching for other vehicles he may have abandoned.
