News Topical, Digital Desk : European leaders attending the G20 summit in South Africa have discussed the US peace plan to end the Ukrainian war. The leaders of Britain, France, and Germany have stated that Ukraine's borders should not be changed through force or coercion.
Europe is not in favor of this at all. This meeting of European leaders will take place in Johannesburg, outside the agenda of the G20 summit. Ukraine and most of its allies have already expressed disagreement with the 28-point peace proposal, with only Italian Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni advocating the implementation of the US plan for peace in Ukraine.
How long did Trump give time ?
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that there is a clear gap between Russia's words and actions regarding peace in Ukraine. European Union President Ursula von der Leyen has said that no peace plan should be developed without Ukraine's involvement.
While US President Donald Trump has given Ukraine until November 27th to accept this plan, he has threatened to withhold weapons and intelligence from Ukraine if it does not comply. Ukraine and European countries believe that the peace plan only serves Russia's interests.
The plan includes conditions such as handing over the occupied Ukrainian territories of Donetsk and Luhansk to Russia, reducing the size of Ukraine's military, abandoning its desire to join NATO, and not deploying European forces to Ukraine after the war stops. Russia has agreed to this plan.
What did Putin say ?
President Vladimir Putin has stated that this plan could bring lasting peace to Ukraine. It is understood that a Ukrainian delegation led by former Defense Minister Rustam Umerov will soon travel to Switzerland to clarify its position on the peace plan and meet with US officials there. Their meeting is expected to take place in Geneva on Sunday.
