News Topical, Digital Desk : After hitting theaters, Ranveer Singh's film Dhurandhar recently streamed online on the OTT platform Netflix. The film boasted several excellent songs, which were widely remade into reels, but the song "Ramba Ho..." garnered considerable attention, and now it's once again making headlines thanks to a 69-year-old woman.

At her family gathering, the old lady performed such an amazing dance that the video is rapidly going viral on the internet. Who is this OG grandma, who challenges teenage girls with her hook steps, and why is she currently the topic of discussion? Let's find out in detail.

Who is the Ramba Ho girl?

In 1981, actor Raj Babbar's film Armaan was released. Directed by Anand Sagar, the film starred Ranjeeta Kaur as the lead actress. The film was average, but its song, "Ramba Ho...," remains a hit even 45 years later.

The actress who created a sensation with her item dance in this song is Kalpana Iyer. Yes, this is the same Kalpana Iyer who appeared as Kajri in the song "Pardesi Pardesi" from the Aamir Khan- starrer "Raja Hindustani, " singing "Wah kya dard hai teri awaaz mein chhore...." Kalpana's name is currently in the news for a viral dance video in which she wreaks havoc with killer moves to the song "Ramba Ho...."

I left Bollywood 27 years ago.

Kalpana Iyer's real-life story is no less than a film story. She rose to fame in the 1980s with the song "Ramba Ho." Kalpana appeared in several popular films, including:

Anjaam

Land and Sky

Honest

Disco Dancer

Wounded

you are mine

We are together

She has appeared in numerous cult films like "The Last Stand" and "The Last Stand." However, her acting career didn't offer much success. Later, she focused on establishing a new identity for herself through side roles and item songs. The song "Pardesi Pardesi" from "Raja Hindustani" proved to be a milestone in her career. But it's said that failure forces a person to change their path.

Kalpana Iyer also faced a similar fate. In 1999, she left Bollywood and moved to Dubai. There, she ran a hotel and made a living. At 69, Kalpana is still unmarried.

She was seen in this Doordarshan show

In addition to her acting prowess on the big screen, Kalpana Iyer also tried her luck on the small screen. She played the pivotal role of Dum Dumi in the Doordarshan cult classic serial Chandrakanta . Kalpana's stellar performance in this role was widely praised.
