Mumbai :  Chinay Seth, those whose houses are made of glass do not throw stones at others', the thunderous applause of the audience sitting in the cinema halls did not stop on this dialogue of Raaj Kumar in the film 'Waqt', while his entry scene in the film 'Humraaz', in which the camera shows his white shoes, even before the camera stopped on his face, the whistles and applause of the audience told how much craze he had in every age group.

Raj Kumar was outspoken

Frankness was a habit It was often said in the media that Raj Kumar was arrogant, but I think it was his frankness. He did not think about what the other person would think. This habit of speaking frankly was due to his job as a sub-inspector in the police before becoming an actor.

Raj Kumar had taken a dig at Amrish Puri

Raaj Kumar had given many hit films with Amrish Puri like 'Hindustan ki Kasam' and 'Surya: An Awakening'. Once, both were shooting together. Amrish Puri had worn a wig in that scene. After one take, Amrish Puri was not satisfied. Then Raaj Kumar bluntly said that not every bald person can become Raaj Kumar by wearing a wig. This was a taunt on Amrish ji, but he was joking with himself as well. Actually, Raaj Kumar himself used to wear a wig, he had no hesitation in accepting this, however, he never appeared in front of anyone without a wig. He was a hero in real life too, his style was different in real life too.

Rejected film with Rajendra Kumar

It is about the film 'Love Story'. I was directing the film and Rajendra Kumar was the producer of the film. We all wanted Raj Kumar to be a part of the film. Raj Kumar was called to Rajendra Kumar's house, he heard the story and agreed to do the film. He had to play the role of the girl's father, he also agreed that he would come to Kashmir 15 days before the shooting. He would roam around, play golf, and then shoot.

Signing amount was returned

He was given the signing amount. He kissed the envelope and kept it. Raj Kumar's car moved ahead. We were all breathing a sigh of relief that everything was finalised, in the meantime the car reversed and Raj Kumar asked who would play the role of the boy's father, then I told him that Rajendra ji would do it. Raj Kumar said that you are a good director, but it is not possible that Raj Kumar will work with Rajendra Kumar. Saying this he returned the envelope. Rajendra Kumar was standing right there in front, but he did not even turn towards him.

Even the enemies respected us

Raj Kumar always ensured that his character was strong. He also had his own choice of co-actors. There was tension in his relationship with Dilip Kumar since 'Paigam'. My father H.S. Rawail wanted to cast Dilip Kumar and Raj Kumar in the film 'Sangharsh'. Raj Kumar heard the story and said that the climax would have to be changed a little.

Raj Kumar did not want to kill Dilip

Dilip Kumar is short in stature, I would not look good beating him. It would be better if I call my servants and get Dilip Kumar's character beaten up. Anyway, things did not work out for the two of them to come together in that film. After about 32 years, the two came together in 'Saudagar'. Dilip Kumar also respected Raj Kumar as an actor.

Raj Kumar wanted to go here in his last days

My father was distressed to hear that Raj Kumar had cancer. We went to his house to see him. Even in so much pain, his spirit was intact. He said that Raj Kumar would not have a minor illness like flu, he would have cancer. In his last days, he wanted to go to his farmhouse in Ranikhet in Uttarakhand so that he could breathe his last in solitude, away from the crowd, but he had to go in a wheelchair. He stayed in Mumbai so that people do not see him in his sick state.

Dilip and Amitabh were the first to arrive at Raj's funeral

It was not Raj Kumar's nature to look helpless. When Raj Kumar died in the early hours of July 3, 1996, Dilip Kumar got the news through the police officer living in front of his house. He told Amitabh Bachchan. Both of them were the first to reach Raj Kumar's funeral. Raj Kumar did not want his fans to be saddened by the news of his death. His funeral was held in the presence of a few people.
