On 24 December 1999, Indian Airlines flight IC 814 from Kathmandu, Nepal was hijacked by five terrorists who took the flight via Amritsar, Lahore and Dubai to Kandahar, Afghanistan and kept the plane hijacked for a week. The IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack series is based on this true incident.
