News Topical, Digital Desk : For the past few days, there have been numerous reports circulating on social media regarding eggs. Some claim that some egg brands contain traces of a banned antibiotic called nitrofuran, which poses a risk of cancer. Now, the FSSAI has made a significant disclosure on this matter. Let us explain.

FSSAI revealed this

The FSSAI stated that eggs sold in the country are completely safe. There is no risk of cancer from eating eggs. These claims are misleading and lack scientific basis. According to the FSSAI, the use of nitrofuran is completely banned in poultry and egg production. Even traces found are isolated cases and do not apply to all eggs. Scientific evidence suggests that such low levels do not cause cancer or any other health problems.

Why are eggs nutritious and safe?

Eggs are a treasure trove of protein, vitamins, and minerals. They contain nutrients like vitamins A, B12, D, E, iron, zinc, and choline, which help strengthen muscles. They also improve eyesight, strengthen bones, and boost immunity. Eating one to two eggs daily is beneficial for most people.

What does the doctor say?

Dr. Ramesh Kumar, senior dietitian at Apollo Hospital in Delhi, said that eggs are an excellent source of complete protein. They are good for muscle building, brain health, and eyesight. The FSSAI report clearly states that these rumors are false. Eating eggs daily does not cause any type of cancer. He added that eggs contain choline, which is essential for the brain and liver. They are very beneficial for women and children. There is no need to panic about cancer rumors.

How should eggs be eaten?

  • Best boiled or poached.
  • Eat less fried food.
  • Mixed with vegetables.
  • Choose good brand or farm fresh eggs.
