News Topical, Digital Desk : According to the calendar, Dussehra (Dussehra 2025) is celebrated every year on the tenth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Ashwin. This year, the festival will be celebrated on Thursday, October 2. Fairs are held at various places on this day, and effigies of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhakaran are also burned. However, there are some places where Ravana is worshipped.

Burning is not done here

In Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, Ravana is not burned on Dussehra. This is because Mandsaur, formerly known as Dashpur, is considered the home of Ravana's wife, Mandodari. Thus, in Mandsaur, Ravana is known as the son-in-law. Therefore, people here worship Ravana, considering him their son-in-law, rather than burning him.

The temple is located here

Ravana Dahan is also not performed in Bisrakh, Uttar Pradesh. This is because this place is considered Ravana's maternal home. The epic Ramayana describes Ravana's birth here. Bisrakh also has a temple dedicated to the king of Lanka, where Ravana is worshipped on Dussehra.

Worship is also done at these places

In Gadchiroli, in Maharashtra's Amravati district, tribal communities worship Ravana. Here, Ravana is revered as a family deity. This is why Ravana is not burned at this place on Dussehra. Similarly, Ravana is also worshipped in Baijnath, in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district.

People believe that Ravana performed severe penance to Lord Shiva here. Furthermore, in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, Ravana is also seen as a devotee of Shiva and is worshipped. Many people here also observe fasts and perform havans on Dussehra.
