News Topical, Digital Desk : The nine days of Navratri are days of devotion and power. During these days, many devotees light the "Akhand Jyoti" in their homes, which is supposed to burn uninterrupted for nine days. However, despite taking precautions, the Akhand Jyoti sometimes goes out due to gusts of wind, lack of ghee, or a broken wick. In such a situation, fear creeps into the mind, wondering if something bad is going to happen? Will Mother Goddess become angry?

If the light goes out, do this immediately.

  • If you see that the light has gone off, then first of all calm your mind and meditate on the Mother.
  • First of all light another small lamp (Sakshi Deepak) and place it in front of the Mother.
  • Clean the container of the Akhand Deepak , remove the burnt wick (Gul) from it and put a new long wick.
  • Now light the eternal flame again with the flame of the same witness lamp.
  • With folded hands, apologize to Mother Goddess for this unintentional mistake. You can also chant the mantra “Om Dum Durgaye Namah.”

Should this be considered a bad omen?

People often consider this a serious bad omen. However, in astrology, it can also be a physical phenomenon. Don't mistake this for a lack of devotion. The scriptures place the highest priority on "feeling." If your intentions are pure, a minor technical error won't disrupt your spiritual practice.

What do the scriptures say?

The " Durga Saptashati " concludes with the "Apraadha Kshamapan Stotra." It clearly states that humans can lack the mantra, rituals, and devotion, and that countless mistakes can be made during worship. Simply asking for forgiveness from the Mother Goddess with a sincere heart, she forgives every mistake. Furthermore, the "Markandeya Purana" also emphasizes devotion and faith over the nuances of rituals.
