News Topical, Digital Desk : Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan approached the Kerala High Court on September 26, seeking relief after his luxury car was seized by customs officials during a raid earlier this week.

The residences of these actors were also raided.

A large-scale investigation launched by the Customs Preventive Branch has been named Operation Numkhor. Numkhor is a Bhutanese word meaning vehicle. The operation targeted approximately 30 locations across the state, including the residences of well-known celebrities such as Prithviraj Sukumaran, Dulquer Salmaan, and Amit Chakkalakkal. During the raids, officers reportedly seized 38 expensive luxury cars suspected of being smuggled into India from Bhutan using forged documents.

Dulquer filed a petition

At Dulquer's residence, officials seized a 2004 model Land Rover Defender, which the actor had purchased last year. However, Dulquer challenged the legality of the seizure in his petition, claiming that the vehicle was purchased from the Indian Red Cross. The actor stated that the car was registered and legally purchased.

He further stated that the car was properly registered and accompanied by the necessary documents. The petition further states, “Although the documents were handed over to the authorities, they were completely refused consideration during the hasty and arbitrary seizure.”

Dulkar also argued that he had submitted an application to the Customs Department on September 25th, providing complete information about the car, including all documents. However, the car was not returned, forcing him to approach the High Court. Dulkar argued that the car could be damaged if left unused for a long time, and if it was severely damaged, it could become irreparable. Therefore, he asked the court to direct its return.
