Earlier there were reports of a dispute with the CBFC regarding some cuts, but now the issue has been resolved. The dispute with CBFC ends
Recently there were reports about Aamir Khan's Sitara Zameen Par that CBFC had asked to cut two scenes from the film. Aamir and director R.S. Prasanna believed that these scenes and dialogues were important for the story and it would not be right to remove them. Due to this, the film was getting delayed in getting the censor certificate.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Aamir met the CBFC committee on June 16, 2025 and put forth his point. Eventually, an agreement was reached between the two parties, and the film was passed without any cuts. Now the film will release on its scheduled date of June 20, 2025.
What is the story and theme of the film?
Sitare Zameen Par is a sports drama, which is a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan's 2007 superhit film Tare Zameen Par. The film is inspired by the Spanish hit Champions (2018). In this, Aamir plays the role of an alcoholic basketball coach who prepares 10 special children for the Paralympics.
The story is based on the themes of inspiration, inclusiveness and giving new hope to others. The film also stars Genelia D'Souza and Darsheel Safary in important roles, in which Darsheel will be seen in a new role.

The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Aparna Purohit, with Ravi Bhagchandka as co-producer. The songs are written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, and the music is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The screenplay is written by Divya Nidhi Sharma. The film also features 10 new faces: Aarush Dutta, Gopi Krishna Verma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Aayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar.
The film is 2 hours 35 minutes long and has been given a 12A rating by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), meaning viewers above 12 years of age can watch it, and younger children can watch the film with adults.
Aamir's emphasis on theatrical release
Aamir Khan clarified that Sitare Zameen Par will be released only in theaters, not on OTT or YouTube. In an interview, he said, "I believe in theaters. If you make a good film, people will definitely watch it in theaters." He also expressed concern over the loss to theaters due to early OTT release. Aamir believes that this film will show its magic only on the big screen.
