News Topical, Digital Desk : This year, Dhanteras will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18th. The festival of lights also begins on this day. It is believed that Lord Dhanvantari was born on Kartik Krishna Trayodashi, which is why this day is celebrated as Dhanteras. Purchasing gold, silver, and new items on this day is considered very important.
Light a lamp in this direction
On Dhanteras, a four-faced lamp should be lit in the south direction of the house. This is called Yama Deepam. To light Yama Deepam, make a four-faced lamp out of flour and fill it with mustard oil. Then, place four wicks in the lamp and light it outside the house, facing south. Doing so pleases Yamaraj, and the family is blessed with health, happiness, and prosperity. It is also believed that lighting Yama's lamp alleviates the fear of untimely death.
There will be no money problem
On Dhanteras, light 13 lamps after sunset. Then, worship Lord Kubera. Offer incense, lamps, sandalwood paste, offerings, flowers, and fruits, and chant the mantra, "Yakshaya Kubera Vaishravanaya Dhan-Dhanya Adhipataye Dhan-Dhanya Samriddhi Me Dehi Dapay Dapay Swaha." Doing so ensures the blessings of Lord Kubera, and eliminates financial problems.
Positive energy will remain
On the evening of Dhanteras, a ghee lamp should be lit near the Tulsi plant and the Tulsi plant should be circumambulated seven times. This helps maintain positive energy in the home, creating an atmosphere of peace and happiness. It also bestows the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi on the devotee. You can also light a lamp near a water source, such as a well or hand pump, on Dhanteras. This lamp is actually lit for Lord Dhanvantari.
