News Topical, Digital Desk : After Cyclone Senyar, another cyclonic storm Ditwah is expected to hit the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh-Puducherry coast soon, the IMD said on Thursday. According to the IMD, the weather system in the Malacca Strait, which intensified into Cyclone 'Senyar', has now moved away from the Indian coast, while another low pressure area formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm, which is expected to reach the Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast by November 30. Heavy rains are expected in many states due to the cyclonic storm.

Another deep depression is over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining the Sri Lankan coast. Due to this, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu during November 27-30, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall possible on November 28 and 29. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema from November 28 to December 1, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall possible on November 30, 2025. Due to the cyclonic storm, the IMD has issued yellow and orange alerts for several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, Thanjavur, etc., for November 27, 28, and 29.
How will the weather be?
According to the IMD, there is no significant change in minimum temperatures expected in Northeast India during the next five days. After that, a warning for dense fog and cold wave has been issued. Dense fog is likely to prevail in the morning hours in some areas of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during November 28-30. Cold conditions are also likely to increase in eastern Rajasthan from November 30 to December 1. Cold wave conditions are likely to develop in some areas of Punjab on November 28 and 29 and in Rajasthan on December 3-4, 2025.
Information about Cyclone Senyar
In its latest X post, the IMD said that Cyclone Ditwah is currently over the southwest Bay of Bengal and is located near Pottuvil, 700 km southeast of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It will then move north-northwestward and reach the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-south Andhra Pradesh coasts by early November 30. The cyclone has been named Ditwah, a name submitted by Yemen, according to the list of tropical cyclone names in the North Indian Ocean.
Senyar moved away from India
Cyclone Senyar has moved away from the Indian region and is reportedly moving towards Malaysia and near Sumatra. Cyclone Senyar has been described as 'rare' as it is the first time a weather system of cyclonic storm intensity has been recorded in the Strait of Malacca. It is moving west-southwest at 9 kmph and has maximum sustained winds of 83 kmph.
