With this, Australia has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. England had set a target of 316 runs for Australia, which the visiting team achieved by losing three wickets six overs earlier.
Head played an unbeaten innings of 154 runs in 129 balls in this match. In his innings, he hit 20 fours and five sixes. This is Head's best score in ODI. He shared a partnership of 148 runs with Marnus Labuschagne. Labuschagne played an unbeaten innings of 77 runs facing 61 balls. This right-handed batsman hit seven fours and two sixes in his innings.

Head made and broke many records with his stormy innings. This also includes the record of Indian team captain Rohit Sharma. Head played this stormy innings against England at Trent Bridge. Head has become the batsman to play the biggest innings against England while chasing the target on this ground. Before him, this record was in the name of Rohit who scored 137 runs against England on the same ground in July 2018. Apart from this, this innings of Head is the best innings played by any Australian batsman in England. Earlier this record was in the name of Shane Watson.
