
News Topical, Digital Desk : The number of Covid-19 cases in India is continuously increasing. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India (MoHFW), there are 1,010 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country. According to the data, Kerala and Maharashtra are among the most severely affected states. This increase in cases has coincided with the detection of two new sub-variants - NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 - which are currently being monitored by global health authorities. Apart from India, other South-East Asian countries like Singapore, China, Thailand and Hong Kong have also seen a rise in Covid cases.
Kerala and Maharashtra have the highest number of Covid patients
According to state-wise data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala and Maharashtra have seen the highest rise in coronavirus cases. Kerala has reported 430 cases, of which 335 are new. Meanwhile, Maharashtra has reported 210 cases with 154 new infections. Delhi is at third spot with 99 new cases, taking the total number of cases to 104. Gujarat, Karnataka, Haryana and other states have also seen a rise in Covid-19 cases.
First death due to Covid-19 in Maharashtra
On Monday, the Kalyan-Dombivli municipal corporation in Maharashtra's Thane district reported its first death due to Covid-19, with a woman succumbing to the virus while undergoing treatment. Four Covid-19 infected patients were found within the municipal limits following a surge in cases in parts of the state. Of these, one woman died, another patient was discharged after treatment with moderate symptoms, the third patient is undergoing treatment at a private hospital and the fourth patient has been transferred to Chhatrapati Shivaji Hospital in Kalwa for further care.
Active cases of corona in Delhi are 104
There are 104 active COVID-19 cases in the national capital. On Monday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured that all hospitals in the city are fully prepared and people have nothing to worry about. "The government has taken full cognizance of the COVID-19 cases. Our hospitals are fully prepared; there is no need to panic. We are monitoring the situation," she said.
On Covid cases in Delhi, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said, "I would like to say in very clear terms that there is no need to use the word 'dangerous' here. The situation is not alarming at all. There are no serious cases and there have been no casualties. People are recovering fast. No one needs to worry."
