News Topical, Digital Desk : Celina Jaitly and her husband Peter Haag have been living separately for a long time. The actress has accused her husband of domestic violence, and now the couple recently appeared in the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court. The court also asked Haag to file his response to Jaitly's domestic violence (DV) complaint. These instructions were given in November during the first hearing of the case filed by the actress under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.

The actress demanded an alimony of Rs 100 crore.

Celina Jaitly has accused her husband of constant physical, verbal, and emotional abuse during their 15-year marriage. She is seeking ₹100 crore in compensation and ₹10 lakh per month in maintenance. The couple married in Mumbai in 2011 and lived in Mumbai, Dubai, Singapore, and Austria during Haag's overseas postings.

Selina made these allegations

The actress has alleged that Haag restricted her professional pursuits, prevented her from accessing her earnings, and made her financially dependent on him. The complaint describes Haag as a selfish person who allegedly showed no empathy towards her or their children. A key issue in the dispute is a 2019 gift deed under which her Mumbai flat was transferred to Haag. She has claimed that the deed was signed when she was mentally unstable and alleged that Haag later rented out the property without her knowledge, earning approximately ₹1.26 crore.

Left Austria with the help of a neighbor

The petition further alleges that Haag sold a property they had jointly purchased in Vienna without informing her, and that the alleged abuse escalated after the family moved to a small village in Austria. Jaitly claims she eventually left Austria with the help of a neighbor after she discovered documents Haag had allegedly hidden from her.

Haag filed for divorce in an Austrian court earlier this year, allegedly blaming Jaitley for the breakdown of their marriage. Her legal team has said the Austrian court recently granted her access to her children by telephone for one hour daily, despite a period when Haag reportedly cut off communication. Jaitley has claimed she has been prevented from contacting her children since she initiated legal proceedings in India.

When will the next hearing be held?

The Mumbai court has sought clarification on the financial condition of both parties before considering interim relief. The next hearing in the case will be held on January 27th.
