Africa CDC member Yap Boum said during a media briefing that by 2025, there would have been an estimated 4,275 deaths from cholera and ampox across Africa.
3,697 people died of cholera
According to data from the African Union Specialized Healthcare Agency, 176,136 cases of cholera were reported in 21 African countries, of which 3,697 patients died. Lack of clean water is said to be a major reason behind the spread of cholera in Africa.
578 people died of ampox
