Chinese man uses this trick to claim insurance after his girlfriend's chest bone breaks while playing

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, a man named Wang allegedly broke his girlfriend's chest bone as a prank and later staged a car accident to collect insurance money.

The incident took place in June 2024

He and his girlfriend had been in a long-term relationship and lived in Panzhihua City. According to reports, the two often quarreled. The incident occurred in June 2024, when the two were playing outside a relative's house. It is alleged that Wang jumped on his girlfriend's back and asked her to lift him up. The sudden pressure fractured her chest. Despite the injuries, the two did not immediately seek emergency medical help.

Drama to get insurance money

After searching online and seeing the high cost of treatment, the couple allegedly decided to stage a traffic accident to claim insurance. Then, about an hour later, Wang drove Lan to a deserted intersection. Police said he laid her down near the back of the car and pretended he had accidentally hit her.

When reporting the incident, the couple concealed the fact that they were in a relationship. Lan was hospitalized. It is alleged that Wang, citing financial difficulties, persuaded the insurance company to pay her thousands of yuan in advance for her treatment. After being discharged from the hospital, Lan filed a claim for more than 200,000 yuan (about $28,000), while continuing to conceal the true cause of her injuries.

Theft caught like this

However, the insurance company discovered several irregularities, including the close relationship between Wang and Lan, and alerted the police. Investigators found no signs of collision damage on the car and noted that the alleged accident scene was deserted. Suspicions were further fueled by photographs from the scene, which showed Lan lying on a pillow in a position that officials described as "unnatural."

After an investigation, authorities concluded that the accident was intentional. Wang and Lan were recently arrested on suspicion of insurance fraud and, if convicted, could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of 200,000 yuan.
