News Topical, Digital Desk : A cinema in Oakville, Canada, was attacked twice in a week. First, the cinema was set on fire, then heavy gunfire erupted. The incidents occurred at a time when Indian films were being screened. Following the shootings, screenings of Indian films were halted.

Oakville-based Film.ca is linking the attacks to the screening of South Asian films. Screenings of Rishabh Shetty's "Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1" and Pawan Kalyan's "They Call Him OG" were subsequently halted. Khalistani terrorists are suspected to be behind the shootings and arson.

The first attack took place on September 25.

The theater was first targeted on September 25th at approximately 5:20 a.m. According to Halton police, two suspects were seen at the theater's entry gate with flammable materials in their hands. The first attack did not cause significant damage, as the fire was confined to the exterior of the theater.

Firing and arson again on Wednesday

The second attack occurred on Wednesday, October 2, when a suspect fired several rounds at the entrance of the theater building at 1:50 a.m. According to police, the suspect was identified as a dark-skinned, heavyset man wearing a black mask and a face mask.

Two suspects appeared in CCTV video

CCTV video shared online by Film.ca shows a gray SUV pulling up outside the theater around 2 a.m. A man wearing a hoodie emerges from the vehicle, walking toward the theater's entrance and then fleeing. The same SUV returned to the parking lot twice. Around 5:15 a.m., a white SUV pulled in. Moments later, the video shows two men approaching the theater's entrance. They sprinkle flammable liquid from a red container and light it on fire with a matchstick before fleeing.

SFJ demands ban on Indian films

Amidst the continuous incidents of arson and shooting in cinemas in Canada, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has announced that all “Made in India” films and products should be banned in Canada.
