Many times we board the train to set luggage or for some other reason and the train starts moving because the halt time is short. In such a situation we get nervous because we have only a platform ticket and not a train ticket. Many times in an emergency, a passenger also takes a platform ticket. In such a situation, the question arises whether one can travel on a platform ticket.

By the way, let us tell you that Indian Railways has fixed the price of platform ticket at Rs 10. This ticket is valid for 2 hours. 

What is the rule regarding platform ticket

Let us tell you that if you travel with a platform ticket, no one can take you out of the train. Many people are not aware of this rule of Indian Railways. According to the rules of Indian Railways, if you board the train in a hurry or in an emergency, then you will have to meet the TTE first.

After meeting the TTE, you will have to take a ticket to the next station and pay a fine of Rs 250. Apart from this, if you take a platform ticket in an emergency, then you will have to buy a ticket for the station where you have to get down. 

What is the rule for waiting ticket

If you buy a waiting ticket online and it is not confirmed, then you cannot travel in the train. However, travelling with a waiting ticket is invalid. If you are caught with this ticket, action can be taken against you.
