Bobby Deol was jealous of other actors, and explained how his family was afraid of him because of his alcohol addiction.

News Topical, Digital Desk : Actor Bobby Deol is receiving a lot of praise for his powerful performance in the recently released Aryan Khan series "The Bads of Bollywood." The actor has been winning hearts with his stellar performances for quite some time now. Meanwhile, he opened up about battling alcohol addiction during the most challenging phase of his career.

During a podcast interview, the actor explained how his family forced him to quit drinking, now that it's been over a year since. He also explained why alcohol addiction is "worse than drug addiction." He also recalled how his family, despite being afraid of him, stood by him during that time.

My family was afraid of me – Bobby

Bobby Deol said, "I am working for my family. And if I see fear and sadness in their eyes... It's not that I used to drink every day, but whenever I did, they were scared of me. They just didn't know what I would be like. It's terrible." 

The actor further said, "My brother and I were going through a rough time at the time. My father wasn't working as much. So there was pressure at home, but my brother never showed it to us. He always hid his stress from me.

He started misbehaving with his wife too.

The actor also spoke about his wife. He said, "Only the people closest to you know your anger and dark side. For my wife, that dark side was my anger, bad behavior, and stupid things." Bobby also revealed what ultimately forced him to quit drinking.

Quit alcohol because of this

Bobby Deol said that alcohol messes with your mind. You don't even know what you're saying. People think alcohol forces you to tell the truth, but that's not true; it's the pain inside you that's coming out, but the people closest to you have to bear the brunt of it. They have to endure it and understand it. That's why I finally quit drinking, and it's been over a year."

Meanwhile,  Bobby Deol  , while talking about the superstars of his time and today's new superstars like Ranbir and Ranveer, said that the reason for their success is their self-confidence. He said, "I started drinking too much, I didn't even realize what it was doing to me. I kept blaming the world for misunderstanding me and not recognizing my potential. I was jealous of other actors, but I never thought about why they were becoming successful.

Son's words changed everything

People liked them because they were hardworking. Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are superstars today because of their confidence and hard work. Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and my brothers, Ranveer and Ranbir too." The actor said that one day he heard his wife tell his son, "You go to work every day, but Papa sits at home." And those words changed everything for him.

I can't stand it. What kind of father was I being?" the actor concluded, admitting that there was a time when he didn't care what alcohol was doing to his mind or body.
