News Topical, Digital Desk : On Wednesday morning (January 28), in Panjhanheri village, under the Kankhal police station area of Haridwar district, an incident of firing took place in front of an administrative team that had arrived to investigate complaints of illegal encroachment on government land. Two people, including the brother of District Panchayat Vice President Amit Chauhan and property dealer Sachin Chauhan, were seriously injured.
According to reports, administrative staff had arrived in Panjhanheri village to verify complaints regarding government land. During this time, two groups affiliated with the BJP, present in the village, came face to face. Reports indicate that an argument initially broke out between the two groups, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation. The dispute escalated to the point where gunfire erupted.
Dispute between BJP leaders
According to eyewitnesses, an altercation broke out between Atul Chauhan, a BJP member, and Tarun Chauhan, the state minister of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. During this, gunfire was heard, causing panic at the scene. Sachin Chauhan was struck in the stomach by a bullet, seriously injuring him and falling to the ground.
A relative, Krishnapal, was also shot. The incident sent panic through the village, with people fleeing for their lives. The administrative team and police arrived at the scene to calm the crowd and bring the situation under control.
Injured admitted to hospital
The injured were immediately taken to a local hospital, where, after first aid, they were referred to a higher center due to their critical condition. Upon receiving the information, police from Kankhal police station, along with Superintendent of Police (City) Abhay Pratap Singh and other senior officers, arrived at the scene.
Police officers inspected the scene and collected evidence related to the shooting. Nearby residents were also questioned. Superintendent of Police (City) Abhay Pratap Singh stated that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the shooting, who fired the shot, and the root cause of the dispute.
He stated that strict legal action will be taken against the culprits. Police have increased security in the area and are monitoring the situation. Administrative officials say that any disorder or violence related to government land will not be tolerated.
