Nishikant Dube On Supreme Court: Amidst the support and opposition of the Waqf law, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has started a new debate about the judiciary and the legislature. Now BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has made a big statement about the Supreme Court on Saturday (April 19). He said that if the Supreme Court will make the law, then the Parliament House should be closed.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said, "The Supreme Court is solely responsible for inciting religious war in the country. The Supreme Court is now going beyond its limits. If we have to go to the Supreme Court for every matter, then the Parliament and the Assembly should be closed. Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna is responsible for all the civil wars happening in this country.
'The President appoints the Chief Justice'
Dubey further said, "How can you give instructions to the appointing authority? The President appoints the Chief Justice of India. Parliament makes the law of this country. How did you make a new law? In which law is it written that the President has to decide within three months? This means that you want to take this country towards anarchy. When the Parliament sits, there will be a detailed discussion on this."
Nishikant Dubey's remarks come at a time when the apex court is hearing several petitions challenging the constitutionality of the Wakf (Amendment) Act, which was passed by Parliament earlier this month. After the court questioned some controversial provisions of this law, the central government has agreed not to implement them till the next hearing.
Debate sparked by Vice President's statement
A debate has also started on the recent deadline set by the Supreme Court for taking a decision on the bills sent to the President. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed disagreement with this decision of the apex court. On the other hand, opposition parties have praised the said direction of the apex court as well as the action of the Supreme Court in the Waqf (Amendment) Act case.
Nishikant Dubey strongly represents BJP's side.
Dubey, MP from Godda in Jharkhand, often takes the lead in BJP's political attacks on its rivals in the Lok Sabha and clearly presents the ruling party's stand on various issues in the House.
