News Topical, Digital Desk : Bangladesh's interim government led by Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday appealed to India to act with moral clarity on its request for the extradition of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She is facing charges of crimes against humanity in Bangladesh. Bangladesh had demanded Hasina's extradition from India last December. Yunus's press secretary Shafiqul Alam said in a statement on internet media, "We now appeal to India to act with compassion and moral clarity."

 

The hearing will be held at the International Criminal Court

It said that 'for too long India has refused to comply with Bangladesh's legal request for the extradition of Sheikh Hasina.' A case against Hasina is scheduled to be heard in the International Criminal Court of Bangladesh on Thursday.

The Awami League government led by Hasina was ousted on August 5 last year due to a violent student movement. Hasina has been living in India since then.
