More than 6300 units sold
According to the FADA report, a total of 6338 units of electric cars were sold across the country during August 2024. There has been a decline of about ten percent in this segment on a year-on-year basis. During August 2023, 7040 units of electric vehicles were sold across the country.
Tata Motors EV
Tata Motors sold the most number of electric cars during August 2024. A total of 4086 units were sold by the company in the last month. The company's sales have declined by about 14 percent on a year-on-year basis. Tata Motors sold 4783 units of EVs during the same period last year. Tata Motors' portfolio includes EVs like Tiago, Punch, Nexon, Tigor as electric cars.
MG Motors
British carmaker MG also offers Comet and ZS EV in the Indian market. Last month, the company sold a total of 1353 units of electric vehicles. In terms of sales, MG Motors stood second after Tata. The company has achieved a growth of 12 percent on a year-on-year basis. In August last year, MG Motors sold 1208 units of electric vehicles.
Mahindra
Mahindra's Xuv400 is also offered in the Indian market as an electric SUV. The company's only electric SUV sold 317 units during August 2024. Whereas in the month of August last year, 406 units of this SUV were sold.
WORLD
Chinese electric car company BYD has also sold 209 electric units in the Indian market during August 2024. The company had sold 104 units in the same period last year. According to the data, the company has achieved a growth of 100 percent on year-on-year basis.
Citroen
Citroen also sells vehicles in the Electric Car segment in the Indian market. The company has sold 159 units in the last month. Whereas in the same period last year, the company had sold 118 units.
