News Topical, Digital Desk : Despite the ongoing tension between India and the US over the tariff war, a joint military exercise between the Indian Army and the US Army will be conducted in Alaska, USA from 1st to 14th September. A contingent of the Indian Army has left for Fort Wainwright, Alaska, USA to participate in the 21st edition of the India-US joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 to be held from 1st to 14th September. 

Training will be done with the soldiers of 'Bobcats'

The Indian contingent, comprising personnel from a battalion of the Madras Regiment, will train with soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment 'Bobcats' of the Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team of the US 11th Airborne Division.

Rock craft and mountain warfare were also included in the exercise

For two weeks the soldiers will rehearse a range of tactical exercises including heliborne operations, use of surveillance resources and unmanned aerial systems, rock craft, mountain warfare, casualty evacuation, combat medical support and integrated use of artillery, aviation and electronic warfare systems.

Counter-UAS operations

In addition, subject matter experts from both armies will conduct working groups on critical areas such as UAS and counter-UAS operations, information warfare, communications and logistics. The exercise will culminate with jointly planned and executed tactical maneuvers.

This is its main purpose

It will range from live-fire exercises to high-altitude combat scenarios. Its main objective is to improve capabilities for UN peacekeeping operations and strengthen preparedness for multi-domain challenges.
