News Topical, Digital Desk : Govinda reigned supreme in the 90s and 2000s. He ruled the hearts of audiences, but one thing about him bothered everyone, from co-stars to directors. This even angered Sanjay Dutt.
Sanjay Dutt and Govinda starred together in the film Jodi No. 1. Released in 2001, the film was directed by David Dhawan. Rajat Bedi of The Bads of Bollywood fame also played a key role in the film. Recently, Rajat shared an anecdote from the film's set.
Sanjay Dutt was furious with Govinda's lateness.
This anecdote is about Govinda's lateness and Sanjay's anger. Stories of Govinda's lateness are well known in Bollywood. The actor used to shoot 4-5 films simultaneously. Rajat, in a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, said, "He had taken on too much work. In Jodi No. 1, David was supposed to start shooting at 7 am, but for some reason, Sanjay Dutt and I reached there at 6 am."
Sanjay Dutt lost his cool on the sets
Rajat Bedi further added, “David and all of us were waiting for Govinda to arrive so we could start work. Then we found out that Govinda was at home. So someone from the set was sent to his house and that person sat outside to bring him to the set. By 2 in the afternoon, Sanjay lost his temper.”
Sanjay Dutt took this step in anger
Rajat Bedi said, "No one knew he was flying in from Hyderabad and arriving directly on set at 3 p.m. In those days, no one knew where he was because he worked 4-5 shifts." Rajat added that Govinda arrived on set after 3 p.m., and then the drama began.
Rajat Bedi explained that Sanjay Dutt had fewer dialogues than Govinda, which made him even more angry. The actor said, "Sanju started abusing his assistant and said, 'Give these dialogues to Govinda, I won't do this.' The entire scene changed instantly."
