News Topical, Digital Desk : An Indian company sent explosives worth $1.4 million to Russia for military use despite US warnings. It is worth noting that the US had threatened to impose sanctions on any organization supporting Russia in the Ukraine war.

Explosives were dropped in St. Petersburg

The news agency has identified two HMX shipments sent in December by Telangana-based Indian company Ideal Detonators Pvt Ltd. The explosives were unloaded in St. Petersburg, according to Indian customs data. An Indian government official with knowledge of the shipments confirmed this.

The second consignment was purchased by Promsynthese

The consignment worth $1 million was purchased by a Russian company called High Technology Initiation Systems. The second consignment worth more than $1 million was purchased by Promsintez. Both companies are located in Samara Oblast, near the Kazakhstan border.

An official with Ukraine's SBU security service said Promsintez has ties to the country's military. According to the Pentagon's Defense Technical Information Center, HMX is used as an explosive for missile and torpedo warheads, rockets and advanced military systems.

The US government said this

The US government has described HMX as vital to Russia's war effort, although the Indian official said the compound also has some limited civilian uses. Sales of HMX to Russian companies have not been previously reported.

Donald Trump threatened

It is noteworthy that India has maintained its long-term military and economic relations with Russia despite the pressures. US President Donald Trump had threatened that if any country continues to buy Russian crude oil, then 100 percent tariff will be imposed on it. Despite this, India did not reduce its purchase of oil from Russia.

India's Foreign Ministry said, India is exporting dual-use items keeping in mind international obligations on nuclear non-proliferation. This export is based on a strong legal and regulatory framework.

The US has been talking about imposing sanctions

The US State Department did not comment on this but said that it has repeatedly informed India that any foreign company or financial institution doing business with Russia's military industrial base is subject to US sanctions.
