News Topical, Digital Desk : Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made an interesting statement, referring to his uncle Sharad Pawar. The Deputy Chief Minister said, "Earlier, if we made a mistake, Saheb (Sharad Pawar) would be there to correct it. Now, we have to deal with our own mistakes." On Friday (September 26), he sarcastically remarked that there's a significant difference between his past and present personality, and that he has matured with age. 

NCP was broken in July 2023

The NCP, founded by Sharad Pawar, split in July 2023 when Ajit Pawar and several MLAs joined the then Eknath Shinde government. Ajit Pawar's faction received the party name and the "clock" election symbol, while Sharad Pawar's faction was named NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar).

There is a lot of difference between the old and the current Ajit Pawar – Deputy CM

Addressing the gathering at an event on Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, he said, "You know there's a huge difference between the old Ajit Pawar and the current Ajit Pawar. As one grows older, one has to change. Maturity also comes with age." 

What did Nikaya say about the ticket in the elections?

Speaking about the upcoming civic elections, the Deputy Chief Minister said that tickets would be awarded solely on merit. He added that new faces would also be given opportunities.

Helping farmers has always been my endeavor- Pawar

Ajit Pawar also said that his recent comments regarding relief funds have been misunderstood. He said, "It has always been my endeavor to help farmers facing distress due to heavy rains. I will continue to support the farmers. There is no need to create misunderstanding."

We have also sought help from the Centre – Deputy CM

Speaking to reporters, Pawar admitted that the immediate relief of Rs 5,000 and 10 kilograms of grain announced for flood-affected people was insufficient. He said, "The government will increase the assistance. The state government is providing all possible assistance to the flood-affected people. We have also sought help from the central government."
