
News Topical, Digital Desk : Adani Power Limited has given information about the power plant located at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district of Bihar in the exchange filing.
The company has said in the filing that it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) to purchase power for 25 years for a 2,400 MW (800 MW x 3 units) Greenfield Ultra Super Critical Thermal Power Plant located at Pirpainti in Bihar.
This project will generate power for North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL).
What did the company say?
Adani Power CEO, S. B. Khyalia said, "As India's largest private sector thermal power producer, Adani Power has proven its ability to consistently deliver reliable capacity. Our upcoming ultra-supercritical, high efficiency Pirpainti project in Bihar will set new standards in operational excellence and sustainability.
This plant will provide affordable and uninterrupted power to the people of Bihar, promote industrialization, strengthen the state's economy and support its growth."
The project will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model, in which Adani Power will build, finance, own and operate the plant itself. The project will entail an investment of about $3 billion (about Rs 53,000 crore). During construction, the project will employ about 10,000 to 12,000 people, while operations will employ about 3,000 people.
Adani Power shares were trading 1.27% lower at ₹587.40 on Friday, while the company has registered a gain of 12% so far in 2025. This project is considered to be a major achievement in power generation for Bihar and is expected to lead to development of industries and economic progress in the state.
