News Topical, Digital Desk : On Friday afternoon, around 12 noon, 45-year-old Santlal Gond drowned in a dam in Raghunathpur village, located in the Robertsganj police station area. Upon receiving the information, his family searched for him but could not find him. His body was found floating in the dam around 6 am on Saturday. Police have taken the body into custody and initiated further investigation.
Family members said that Santlal had gone out to graze his cattle around 12 noon on Friday. During that time, his cattle crossed the dam and wandered into another field. In an attempt to retrieve the cattle, Santlal entered the dam and tried to swim across, but drowned in the deep water. Two children from the village saw him drowning and raised an alarm, prompting villagers to rush to the scene.
Police arrived upon receiving the information. Young villagers searched for him in the dam, but Santlal remained untraced until late in the evening. After darkness fell, relatives and villagers returned home. On Saturday morning, villagers resumed their search and found his body floating in the water.
The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The deceased's family consists of his wife, Rajkumari, two sons, Shyam Bihari and Golu, and an unmarried daughter. One of the daughters is married. The family is inconsolable after the incident.
