News Topical, Digital Desk : The family of Kumarganj resident Jangjit Singh, who came to prominence after proposing to donate the rare manuscript of the Shri Ramcharitmanas to the International Ramkatha Museum, reveres this work as divine. This approximately 400-page Shri Ramcharitmanas contains all seven chapters, and the family has been preserving it for generations.

Jangjit Singh explains that he inherited this work from his grandfather, the late Surendra Bahadur Singh (born 1904), who in turn was handed it down by his grandfather, the late Shripal Singh. Following the passing of his grandfather in 1990 and his father, the late Tej Bahadur Singh, in 2004, Jangjit and his wife, Meera Devi, are now carving out this legacy.

Jangjit's father recited it regularly throughout his life. After seeing the advertisement in Ayodhya, Jangjit decided to donate it to the museum.

Although the family initially opposed it, Jangjit remained adamant that this rare treasure kept in his house should be made available to the whole world so that experts could research on it.

The committee is conducting a thorough examination

A five-member expert committee, constituted by Nripendra Mishra, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Museum and a Shri Ram Temple Trustee, is thoroughly examining the manuscript. It is being evaluated on four key parameters before conservation.

This will include examining the work's linguistic structure and determining the historical period of the ink used. Scientifically examining the paper's production period will confirm the period based on the calligraphy.

According to the museum's director, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, approximately 70 people have contacted us so far. If the tests are successful, these rare artifacts may be preserved on the second floor of the Shri Ram Temple in the future. For now, Jangjit Singh has preserved this treasure with utmost devotion at home.
