UP News: Politics is intensifying on the Sultanpur encounter in Uttar Pradesh, now the Samajwadi Party is accusing the Yogi government of encounters in the name of caste. Some media reports have claimed that from 2017 to 2023, the maximum number of criminals encountered by the UP Police-STF in the Yogi government are Muslims.
Know what is claimed in media reports
Media reports regarding encounters in Uttar Pradesh have claimed that a total of 183 criminals have been killed in the state between 2017 and 2023. If we look at the data of media reports, among these 183 criminals killed in encounters, 61 are Muslims, 18 Brahmins, 16 Thakurs, 15 Jats and Gurjars, 14 Yadavs, 13 Dalits, 3 Adivasis, 2 Sikhs, 7 OBCs and 34 others have been killed. Along with this, 207 criminals have been killed in encounters in Uttar Pradesh from March 2017 to August 2024. Only UP STF killed a total of 9 criminals in encounters from May 2023 to September 5, 2024.
Samajwadi Party, BJP and Congress have also reacted to the encounter figures given in media reports. On these figures, SP spokesperson Manoj Kaka said that the whole country is watching these figures. On the encounters in UP, the National Human Rights Commission has said that the maximum number of fake encounters have taken place in UP. The figures that have come from all over the world show that there is no need for any proof of its existence. The bigger question than caste is that you are killing innocent people, not criminals, and Mangesh Yadav is a vivid example of this. The police also killed many Muslim brothers in encounters who were not involved in any crime.
SP spokesperson Manoj Kaka said that the figures that have come out are that 61 Muslims have been killed. My question is why the most number of encounters have taken place of Muslims. If the list of top criminals in UP is seen, it includes people of the Chief Minister's own caste. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is also constantly saying that people from lower classes are being trapped and encountered, the police's hands tremble at the encounter of top level criminals. If the encounter is of a criminal, we will support it but if you do encounters by looking at caste, then it is unfortunate.
Looking at the caste of criminals is a big threat to law and order: BJP
Along with this, BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said on this matter that the opposition should look at those figures carefully because the opposition used to say that most of the encounters have happened with Yadavs. Now the figures are contrary to them, but a criminal does not have a caste. In India, the caste of the victim was seen, he was harassed on the basis of caste, which has been unfortunate. Samajwadi Party is looking at the caste of the criminals and now even Congress is looking at the caste of the criminals. Looking at the caste of criminals is a big threat to law and order.
Along with this, BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi has targeted Akhilesh Yadav by referring to the Muzaffarnagar riots. The Yogi government has not seen the caste of any criminal, it has seen his crimes. If anyone tries to fire at the police, the police has the right to fire to save its life. On the encounter of Mangesh Yadav, Rakesh Pratap said that cases were registered against Mangesh Yadav in many districts, Akhilesh Yadav should also look into those crimes.
Encounters are happening on the basis of caste and religion- Congress
Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said on these figures that ever since the BJP government has come to power in UP, the state has become a jungle raj. The government is targeting people on the basis of caste and religion. Whereas criminals have no caste or religion and that is why the criminals who have the protection of the government are emboldened. Encounters are taking place on the basis of caste and religion in the state and crimes are increasing day by day. In the NHRC report also it has been said that ever since the BJP government has come to power, the number of fake encounters has increased.
